Going by my earliest memories and stories that my mother has told me (drawing on walls and whatnot) I believe it’s safe to say that I’ve loved art ever since I was born. In order to cultivate my natural tendencies my father sent me to my first art program during the summer break of my 8th year. Early on in this program the instructor explained that we had to sign all of our work and immediately “Lage” popped into my head. I’ve always loved the sound of “Lage” and have used it ever since in all of my artistic endeavors.
Throughout grade school I received numerous awards for my artistic achievements, but upon graduation from high school I decided that it was more practical to pursue a career as a kindergarten teacher. While teaching I longed for ways to express myself creatively and found my release via pursuing a graphic design major in my spare time. After teaching for a few years I decided it was time to pursue my true passion and start my own business that I called Lage Arte. Lage Arte was a combination of graphic design services and an arts & crafts store.
While on an extended visit to NYC, to take a class at The School of Visual Arts, I fell in love with a wonderful man named Daniel who is now my husband. Needless to say a permanent transition to NYC, and an unfortunate closing of Lage Arte, was inevitable. In New York I was kept busy with freelance graphic design gigs and collaborations with interesting companies like Boundless Brooklyn, but I longed for my own business once again. Now with the experiences of the past teaching me what I’m best at and a head bursting full of new and impassioned ideas I’m launching an Etsy shop called Lage Art.
